Typical Dominican Meal

Rice, Beans, Salad, Chicken or Beef
(We're coming to really love this food, actually!)
There are options in regards to food, but for the most part Dominicans eat the same thing for lunch each day. Since lunch is the big meal, it normally is heavy (shown above) and eaten around 1-1:30pm. Dinner on the other hand is usually a fruit drink of some kind or a light sandwich.
After 20-something years of having dinner as the big meal (and I, Stephanie, am a big fan of meat and potatoes!) we have adjusted to the rhythm of having a large lunch, but have not yet changed our routine to having a small dinner. Tonight we had shrimp pasta - gotta love living close to the ocean...
