Decire (Dez-see-ray)

About a year ago, the girls' soccer ministry was started and we had a small group of 3-4 girls each practice. I was pumped out-of-my-mind back then because I had the opportunity to coach untrained, but VERY athletic girls how to play a great team sport, and hopefully show them that they're loved in the process. It was amazing to watch as each week more and more girls would arrive - most of them in skirts and flip-flops.

Over the past two months (and 24 girls later!), we've shifted our focus from soccer to building skills and their relationship with Jesus. Last Wednesday was our first night to have Bible Study with the age 13+ girls and we are going to continue to have this group once/week... in the time slot just before the free movie night at church.

My buddy Decire, in the photo above, is 17-years old and has been a part of our soccer team since the very beginning, but just recenty has she really gotten excited about the church. She has been coming every Sunday for the past few weeks, and came to the kids' camp all last week to help with the elementary school aged kids. I'm really excited for her as she is experiencing the "belong" part of church before even accepting Christ... she is a part of the church and our people love her. Say a little prayer for her when you remember, as she is feeling the church and her relationship with God out these days.
