Ron and Brennan Visit Santo Domingo!

What a breath of fresh air! Last Saturday afternoon, we were able to spend time with old friends in our new city. Ron Kastens, a long-long-long time friend of the Cherry family and the pastor who helped officiate our wedding ceremony, was here in the Dominican Republic serving alongside a medical clinic in the central San Juan de La Maguana area of the country. His church from New Hampshire brought a team of 27 people to serve in the medical clinic, kids English camps and doing construction... but at the conclusion of their time on our Carribean island they decided to take a day to enjoy the beach and Colonial City. Ron and his son Brennan visited our house and ate their first guavas off the trees in our back patio, and then we enjoyed a big team dinner at Pizzarelli. Ron's wife, Stacey, was kind enough to send us a care package filled with granola bars, olive oil, fun magazines from the US, chocolate and a bunch of other stuff. It was wonderful to be with encouraging english-speaking friends for a day!
